WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former Republican Party Chairman Ken Mehlman says in a magazine interview that he is gay.

London (AP) -- A Catholic adoption advisory service that refuses to help gay couples cannot win an exemption from anti-discrimination laws, Britain's charity regulator said Thursday.

Jackson, Miss. (AP) -- Another teenage lesbian is suing a rural Mississippi school district, this time over a policy banning young women from wearing tuxedos in senior yearbook portraits.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A federal judge has ruled that gay marriages in California should remain on hold until at least Aug. 18.

Judge Vaughn Walker set the deadline Thursday to give gay marriage opponents time to appeal to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. If the appeals court fails to act by 5 p.m. local time next Wednesday, then gay marriages can go forward.

Proposition 8 has been at the front of my mind since I found out it'd be on the November 2008 ballot. When I learned today it was found unconstitutional by Judge Vaughn Walker, I felt like my heart stopped. Tears pooled in my eyes, a minute later I was shouting joyously through the house, grabbing the phone and calling my fiancé with the news.

Never in our history has the GLBT community posed such a threat to traditionalist, conservative America. Two little words have shaken the complacency of America to its very core: “Gay Marriage”. Contrary to overwhelming belief, the issue of same-sex marriage is not “a new concept”.
