About Alan H. Chin

Alan Chin studied Data Processing at San Francisco State University, and enjoyed a twenty year career working his way from computer programmer to managing several software engineering groups at a prestigious financial firm in San Francisco.

In 1991, Alan went back to night school and years later graduated from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Masters Degree in Creative Writing.

Alan retired from Information Technology in 1999 to devote all his time to his three hobbies: writing, traveling, and tennis. During that same timeframe, he legally changed his name, from Alan Hurlburt to Alan H. Chin, in order to share the same family name as his life partner, Herman Chin.

Alan turned serious about his writing in 2002, and began working on his first novel: Island Song. While preparing for the publication debut of his novel in July, 2008 by Zumaya Publications, he completed a second novel, Changi, to be published by Zumaya Publications in 2009. Alan has completed a third novel, Match Maker, and is currently working on a fourth novel and a collection of short stories.

Alan lives and writes half of each year at his home in Northern California, and spends the other half traveling the globe.
